The Emergency Department is staffed and equipped to care for 36,000 patients a year presenting for emergency evaluation and treatment. An experienced nurse will assess and triage their care as they enter the department. Our nurses are all certified in BLS, ACLS and PALS. In addition, many also have their CEN, TNCC and ENPC. Leadership supports and encourages nurses to enhance their educational expertise. GUH's ED prides itself on its shared governance committee which implements new ideas from evidenced based practice and responds to feedback from staff. The team approach to staffing and assignments has been well received.
