Deep Sedation Services
Pediatric intensivists provide Deep Sedation services for elective painful or uncomfortable procedures for both pediatric inpatients and outpatients, including lumbar puncture, bone marrow aspiration, upper and lower GI endoscopies, liver and kidney biopsies, PICC line placement, ear exams, etc. In our family-friendly environment, parents may stay with the children until they are fully sedated, and are allowed back into the procedure room before the child wakes up. Same-day appointments available.

PICC Line Service
Pediatric patients (both inpatient and outpatient) who need long-term i.v. therapy may benefit from a Peripherally-Inserted Central Catheter (PICC line). This procedure allows for home therapy and early discharge from the hospital. Procedures are performed by pediatric intensivists under deep sedation (in mature adolescents the option of local anesthesia is offered). Two-way transport of inpatients from other hospitals for the procedure is available.
